The Village of Delhi will ring in its Bicentennial year, on Saturday, January 2, on the Courthouse Square at 2 p.m. with a bell ringing ceremony. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served by Cross Roads Café with complementary Bicentennial mugs with the new logo will be given to adults while supplies last. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own bells in order to participate, but some bells will be provided. Masks are required for this socially distanced event.
The afternoon will conclude with a history-themed scavenger hunt with candy treat bags for all those who finish the activity. The day’s festivities will wrap up with fireworks set off from the SUNY Delhi campus at 5:30 p.m. The blizzard/rain date will be Saturday, Jan. 9.
Activities are being planned for throughout the 2021 year. Given the pandemic, the plans are tentative but include summer and fall birthday celebrations, a cemetery tour, a Village walking tour and a Delhi Dreaming community workshop near the end of the year.
Committee members include Bob Cairns, Linda Champlin, Suzi Ghersi, Barbara Jones, Dave Kopecek, Larry Mannolini and Samantha Misa. If you are interested in helping with or co-sponsoring an event, please contact Barbara Jones by email at trustee2@delhitel.net.
